Frequently Asked Questions

Here are a few of the most common questions I hear when someone is deciding about hiring us!

Q: What can I do to prepare for a session?

A: There really isn't anything I'd recommend you do to physically prepare (my team will bring bags for donations, a folding table for sorting, and a label maker), but it can be helpful to mentally prepare. One of my favorite books to recommend is The Joy of Less by Francine Jay. She discusses the philosophy behind minimalism (whatever that means to each of us) as well as techniques for creating more ease and flow in each area of our homes.

I also encourage you to ponder and visualize your ideal life, and ideal home environment. What do you want to make room for? What items truly bring you joy? A fun litmus test from one of my coaches is to ask:

"Is this actively used, or deeply cherished?"

Q: Do I need to buy any bins/baskets/other organizing supplies?

A: Nope! Nearly always, we end up liberating plenty of bins and other organizing supplies during the decluttering process, and reuse anything that works well and look nice. 😊 I also encourage you to question the habit of buying so-called "organizing solutions" because these often only ADD to the clutter. It's going to serve you well to become a more mindful consumer - you'll save money and have less stuff to deal with!

Q: My friend/husband/mom keeps telling me to just do it myself! Why should I hire professional help instead?

A: I liken our services to that of a personal trainer. Sure, anyone can go to the gym solo. If you want to guarantee that you'll show up, be guided and supported, and get the results you desire, you hire a professional. 😊

Since we work with women nearly all of the time (which is also true in my Happiness Coaching practice), I see how challenging it is for us to ask for and accept help. Hiring us to declutter and organize your home can be a wonderful opportunity to break free from the "I can do it all by myself" mentality, and enjoy receiving the support you need in order to make your life a little easier. 💓

At the end of the day, knowing when we need help and then asking for that help is KEY to having a fulfilling and joyful life!
